DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION

Downtown Revitalization efforts are being headed up by a group of citizen volunteers with guidance and technical assistance from Lovell Inc. staff. This group will help improve the overall look and feel of downtown Lovell and will function as a committee of Lovell Inc
Economic Development. The Team will focus on theentire downtown district, including businesses located off Main Street.

Team Main Street will reconnect with members of the former Community Development Group and other citizen volunteers who have been involved with previous downtown projects. The Team will review the planning document created for downtown improvements in 1996 and prioritize projects based on that plan and the Lovell Town Master Plan. Additionally,
Team Main Street will utilize materials and proven methods for downtown revitalization from the National Trust’s Main Street Program to help in the overall effort. (Click here for more information about the National Trust Program)

Volunteers are currently working to produce a self-assessment survey for business owners and have two other projects in the works. One is slated for the month of October, where they will wrap light poles in the district with corn stalks to create a festive fall look. The second project is in its early planning stages and tentatively scheduled for early May 2009. The Team feels it’s important to establish a visual unity for the district and hopes to achieve this through the use of color and other unifying elements.
